Well, let’s talk about that fancy bag, the YSL Envelope thingy. I ain’t never owned one myself, mind you, but I seen ’em in pictures and heard the ladies chattin’. It’s a YSL Envelope bag, they call it, like a letter you’d send, but way more expensive.
This fella, Anthony somethin’-or-other, he’s the one who made it. Back in 2018, I think. It’s got this quiltin’ on it, like a blanket, and that YSL mark, so everyone knows it ain’t no cheap knock-off. It’s got a chain, too, for carryin’ around, I guess. Makes it a chain strap bag, they say.

Now, if you’re gonna spend your hard-earned money on one of these, you gotta make sure it’s real. They say there’s a little tag inside, with numbers on it. Twelve of ’em, with a little dot in the middle. That’s the serial number, like a secret code. You gotta look for it, near the zipper at the top. If it ain’t there, or it looks funny, well, you mighta got yourself a fake. And nobody wants that, do they?
And these bags, they ain’t all made in one place. Like them cars, they make ’em all over. Different countries, I hear. So don’t go thinkin’ just ’cause it says “Made in Italy” or somethin’ that it’s the only real one. It’s a luxury brand bag, so I guess they gotta make ‘em wherever they can.
I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how to tell if it’s a fake. They say you gotta feel it. A real one, it feels…well, it feels real, I guess. Not cheap and plasticky. You gotta use your hands, they say. Touch it, feel the leather, or whatever it’s made of. If it feels like somethin’ you’d buy at the flea market, it probably is.
And these bags, they ain’t cheap. Lord, no. You could buy a whole lotta groceries with what one of them things costs. But I guess some folks like nice things. And if you got the money, well, you can spend it how you want. It’s a designer handbag, after all, not somethin’ you’d find at the general store.
People are always lookin’ for ’em online, too. Amazon, Pinterest, all them places. Searchin’ for deals, I reckon. Or maybe just lookin’ at pictures, dreamin’ of ownin’ one someday. There’s a whole Women’s Envelope Handbags Collection out there, more than just this one bag.
I even heard tell of folks fixin’ ’em up when they get old or broke. “Savage repair,” they called it. Guess if you spend that much money on somethin’, you wanna make it last. Just like patchin’ up a good pair of overalls, I suppose. It’s about bag repair and maintenance, keepin’ it nice.
Some folks worry about whether it’ll be worth somethin’ later on. Will it hold its value, they ask? I dunno. Seems like things are only worth what someone’s willin’ to pay for ’em. But if you take care of it, keep it clean, maybe somebody will want it someday. It’s a question of bag value and investment, I reckon.
And they talk about usin’ it every day. Carryin’ it around, I guess. To the store, to church, wherever they go. I can’t imagine carryin’ somethin’ that expensive around all the time. I’d be scared of gettin’ it dirty or scratched up. But I ain’t one of them fancy ladies, so what do I know? It’s an everyday bag for some, but not for the likes of me.
So, that’s what I know about the YSL Envelope bag. It’s a fancy thing, a flap bag, with a chain and a special mark. You gotta check for the numbers inside, and feel it good, to make sure it’s real. And if you got one, well, you take care of it. ‘Cause it cost a pretty penny, and you don’t wanna go wastin’ your money, now do ya?
