So, I’ve been messing around with trying to make a decent copy of the Fendi Zucca Oyster Bag, also known as the Zucchino Oyster Shoulder Bag. You know, the one with the FF logo all over it? Yeah, that’s the one. I’ve always loved how it looked, but let’s be honest, the real deal is way out of my budget. So, I thought, why not try to make one myself? This whole project started with me just browsing online, looking at pictures of the bag, and thinking, “I bet I could do that.”
First thing I did was to find some fabric that looked like the real deal. This took a while, I’m not gonna lie. I went to a bunch of fabric stores in my area and scoured the internet for something similar. I finally found this canvas material online that had a print pretty close to the Fendi FF logo. It wasn’t perfect, but it was close enough. I ordered a few yards of it, just to be safe.
While I was waiting for the fabric to arrive, I started working on the pattern. I found a few pictures of the bag online, showing it from different angles. I grabbed a bunch of old newspapers and started sketching out the shape. It’s kind of a weird, curved shape, so it took me a couple of tries to get it right. After a few hours and several crumpled-up newspaper pieces, I finally had a pattern I was happy with.
Once the fabric arrived, I laid it out and carefully pinned the pattern pieces to it. Then came the scary part – cutting! I double-checked everything, took a deep breath, and started cutting. I’m not the best at sewing, so I knew this was going to be a challenge.
- Sewing the pieces together was the hardest part.
- The curved edges were a real pain, let me tell you.
- I definitely messed up a few times and had to use my seam ripper more than I’d like to admit.
