Okay, here’s my story about getting that Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Chronograph.
So, I’ve always been into watches, you know, the nice ones. And I’ve had my eye on a JLC Reverso for a while. I just think they’re cool, and different. A friend of mine got a green Reverso Tribute back in 2011. Paid around $8750 for it at some authorized dealer. It’s a beauty, though now I hear you can only get the green ones at specific stores. Anyway, I started doing some digging online.
I found the Reverso Tribute Chronograph. Man, that thing is gorgeous. But, here’s the thing – JLC prices are no joke. They keep going up, like everything else these days. So I started looking at places like Chrono24, hoping to maybe find a better deal. I’d heard some stories about fakes on there, so I was careful and I made sure to do a ton of research.
Found a Seller
Finally found a seller on Chrono24. They had the Reverso Tribute Chronograph. The price was okay, not a steal, but better than what I was seeing at boutiques. The listing said it came with the original papers, but no box. That made me a little nervous, but the seller had good reviews. I messaged them a bunch of questions. They were pretty responsive. I asked for more pictures, specifically of the movement and the caseback. I compared them to pictures of authentic ones online. Everything seemed to check out.
Took the Plunge
After going back and forth with the seller for a while, I decided to go for it. I wired the money and then, naturally, I started freaking out. Did I just get scammed? Was it a fake? I was sweating bullets for a few days. I should have asked for an escrow service in case there was something wrong. Luckily I didn’t have to worry about it because the watch arrived, and it was the real deal! Came with all the right paperwork, everything looked legit. I was so relieved.
Wearing It
I’ve been wearing the watch almost every day since. It’s a bit of a statement piece, but it’s also surprisingly versatile. I’ve worn it with jeans and a t-shirt, and it looks great. I’ve also worn it with a suit, and it fits right in. I guess you could say it’s kind of a mature watch. But hey, I’m mature, right? Maybe not, but at least my watch is. I think it’s a good investment, and hope the value holds up. It is such a unique watch, and I can’t wait to see how it ages. But either way, I am keeping it forever!
