That Speedmaster Super Racing, oh boy, it’s somethin’ else. I heard folks talkin’ ’bout it down at the general store. They say it’s a fancy watch, real fancy. Cost more than my old truck, I reckon! But you know, it got all them fancy things in it that make it tick just right. They say it’s got this thing called a “Co-Axial” somethin’ or other. Makes it run smooth, like a well-oiled machine, I guess.
And that Omega Speedmaster Original, my grandson, he’s got one. Always braggin’ about it, says it has been to the moon, I told him that’s just a story. He showed me pictures, though. It’s got them buttons on the side, and a whole bunch of little dials. He says it’s for timin’ things, like races and such. He’s always talkin’ about his Omega Speedmaster Original, my god.
This new one, this Speedmaster Super Racing, it’s got that too, I think. It’s all about bein’ precise, they say. Like when you’re measurin’ out flour for a pie, gotta get it just right. This watch, it measures time just right, down to the littlest bit. They call it a “chronometer,” which sounds like somethin’ out of one of them science fiction shows. But it’s just a fancy word for a really good clock, I suppose.
And they put it in a fancy box, too! Black with yellow lines on it, I don’t know what they said it was called, but it looks like a beehive or somethin’ like that, with all them little holes. It’s not what I’d use to store my preserves, but I guess it’s good for keepin’ the watch safe. They call it a “honeycomb” box, fancy name for a fancy thing.
They say this Speedmaster Super Racing has a “Calibre 9920” inside. It means nothin’ to me, I never could figure out them fancy names. But they say it’s the best of the best, like pickin’ the biggest pumpkin from the patch. It’s what makes the watch run so good, keeps it tickin’ accurate.

It’s just a little dot, but they make a big fuss about it. Means somethin’ to them watch folks, I guess. Like knowin’ the best time to plant your tomatoes, it’s all about them little details. That “Dot Over 90” only on some of them Omega Speedmaster Original, not on all of them.
This Omega Speedmaster Super Racing, it’s a 44.25 mm, that’s what they told me. I don’t know what that is, but that’s what they said. It’s s’posed to be linked to the past, but also lookin’ to the future. Like usin’ your grandma’s old recipe but addin’ a new ingredient, maybe. They put a lot of thought into it, I can tell you that. They even put these little tiny parts in it that they say make the watch even more accurate. I don’t know about all that, I just trust what I hear.
My grandson, he’s always talkin’ ’bout these things. He says this Speedmaster Super Racing has a bunch of details, little things you wouldn’t notice unless you looked real close. Like the way a quilt is stitched, each little stitch matters. He says they are meant to reference past technical somethin’ or other. I don’t know what that means, but that’s what he said.
All them parts, they say they’re “revolutionary.” I don’t know ’bout revolutionary, but they sure are somethin’. They say they make the watch the best it can be, that is what they told me. Like havin’ the best tools in your shed, makes the job easier, I suppose.
I reckon if you’re into watches, this Speedmaster Super Racing is the one to get. It’s got all the bells and whistles, as they say. Me, I’m happy with my old clock on the wall. But I can see why folks like these fancy things. It’s like havin’ a little piece of the future right there on your wrist. And maybe it is just like a little computer, that’s what they keep tellin’ me.
