Remake Patek Philippe PP Gondolo 7042/100R-010: Where to Buy at the Official Flagship Store?

Okay, so, I got this wild idea the other day. I’m gonna try to remake a Patek Philippe watch. Yeah, I know, it’s nuts, but hear me out. I’m talking about the Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Sounds fancy, right? It’s got all these diamonds and stuff.

First things first, I had to do some digging. I started by scouring the internet for any info I could find on this watch. I checked out the official Patek Philippe flagship store, trying to get a good look at all the details. Then I hit up some watch forums and websites, places where people sell luxury watches, just to see what the prices were like and what people were saying about it.

  • Gathered a bunch of pictures and descriptions of the Gondolo 7042/100R-010.
  • Figured out it’s a rose gold watch with tons of baguette diamonds.
  • Noted that it’s a manual winding watch, which means you gotta wind it yourself. Old school, I like it.

Next, I started thinking about how I could actually make this thing. I’m no watchmaker, but I’m pretty handy. I decided I’d need to break it down into smaller steps. Like, first, figure out the case, then the dial, the hands, and finally the movement – that’s the engine that makes it tick.

I spent a few days just sketching out designs and making lists of materials I’d need. It was a lot of trial and error, let me tell you. I even messed around with some 3D modeling software, trying to get a better feel for the shape and size of the watch.

Then came the fun part – actually trying to make the pieces. I started with the case, because that seemed like the biggest hurdle. Rose gold color. I tried to make the basic shape, but it was way harder than I thought. And those diamonds on the bezel and lugs? Don’t even get me started. I tried using some tiny clear stones I found at a craft store, but it just didn’t look right.

The Dial

The dial was another beast. It’s got this fancy pattern and more diamonds. I tried painting it, tried printing it, nothing worked. I even considered trying to find a tiny piece of mother-of-pearl, but that was just getting ridiculous.

The Movement

As for the movement, well, that was a whole other level of crazy. I watched some videos of watchmakers assembling movements, and it’s insane how many tiny parts there are. I knew there was no way I could make that from scratch. So, I cheated a little and bought a cheap mechanical watch movement online. It wasn’t the same, but it was close enough for this project.

After weeks of tinkering, I finally had something that kinda resembled the Gondolo 7042/100R-010. It wasn’t perfect, not by a long shot. The case was a bit off, the diamonds were definitely fake, and the dial was a mess. But you know what? I made it. And it actually ticked!

Would I wear it out? Probably not. Would I try to sell it as a real Patek Philippe? Definitely not! But it was a fun experiment, and I learned a ton about watches and about my own limits. Maybe I’ll try to remake another watch sometime. Or maybe I’ll just stick to looking at pictures online. We’ll see.
