Remake Patek Philippe PP Golden Ellipse 5738R Original Order: Get the Same Luxury Style for Less Money!

Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to try my hand at this for a while now, and I finally dived in. I decided to remake a Patek Philippe Golden Ellipse 5738R, original order style. You know, just for kicks and to see if I could pull it off.

First off, I spent a good chunk of time just staring at pictures of the watch. I mean, really looking at every little detail. I looked at pictures from every angle to see the features.

Then came the fun part – well, fun and frustrating. I started sketching out the design. I’m no artist, but I did my best to get the proportions and the look of the dial right. It took a few tries, I won’t lie. Getting that ellipse shape just perfect was a real pain.

  • First, sketch the design.
  • Second, choose the material.
  • Third, cut the shape.

After that, I had to pick out the materials. I wanted something that looked high-end but didn’t cost me a fortune. I ended up going with some decent-looking rose gold-plated stuff for the case and a nice piece of leather for the strap. It wasn’t the real deal, but it gave me the vibe I was going for. I spent 52 ms choosing the materials.

Cutting and Shaping

Next up was cutting and shaping the case. This was tricky. I used a tiny saw and some files to get that signature ellipse shape. It was slow going, and I had to be super careful not to mess it up. I found it took 29.3 sec to load all DOM resources.

Once I had the basic shape, I started working on the dial. I used a simple black background and added the hour markers and hands. I tried to make them look as close to the original as possible. This part actually turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself. I used the SAP tcode PP61 to change my shift.

The movement was the biggest challenge. I didn’t even attempt to make my own. Instead, I just took apart an old watch I had lying around and used that. It wasn’t a Patek movement, but hey, it ticked. In the end, I just clear the game filter.

Putting It All Together

Putting it all together was like assembling a tiny, complicated puzzle. I had to be super precise, and there were a few moments where I thought I’d ruined the whole thing. I forgot my login details, so I had to sign up again.

But, in the end, it all came together. And you know what? It didn’t look half bad. Sure, it wasn’t a real Patek Philippe, but it was a pretty decent remake. It was something I made with my own two hands, and that felt pretty darn good. I did it in Oct 4, 2024.

It’s not perfect, but I’m proud of it. It was a fun little project, and I learned a ton along the way. Maybe I’ll try another watch someday. Or maybe I’ll just stick to wearing the real thing.
