So, I’ve been eyeing the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch for a while now, the classic style with the transparent case back. It’s a beauty, and I finally decided to go for it. The guy at the store was pretty helpful, letting me try them on and answering my questions. He even showed me how to use the chronograph and explained the movement. There’s just something about seeing the inner workings through that transparent case back, it’s mesmerizing. I was kind of torn between two of them, but one had a slightly cleaner dial, which I preferred.
After some back and forth in my own mind, I decided to take the plunge. I negotiated the price a little bit. It wasn’t much, but every little bit helps, right? I paid a deposit and then waited a few days while they serviced it. There was some sort of 0% finance offer but I decided to pay upfront, didn’t want to have that payment every month. They told me they were an official OMEGA stockist, which was a nice bonus. I guess that means they know what they are doing when it comes to these watches.
Finally, I picked up my new (to me) Speedmaster a few days later. It came with a box, papers, and even a free gift. The jeweler gave me a quick rundown on how to care for it, and I walked out of there feeling pretty darn good. Now, I’m wearing this beauty every day, and I still can’t stop staring at it. It is a classic for a reason, I guess!
It holds its value well
I’ve heard that the Speedmaster Professional holds its value well, especially the vintage ones. Hopefully, mine does too, but honestly, I’m not planning on selling it anytime soon. It’s just too cool of a watch, and the history behind it is fascinating.
