This here watch, they call it the OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing. Sounds fancy, huh? Well, it’s one of them watches that folks like to collect. I seen a picture of it, and it’s got a black face with little lines on it. Some fella called it a “honeycomb pattern”. I don’t know about that, but it looks alright. They say it’s made of steel. It gotta be strong, then. These days things break so easy.
I hear this watch, it’s big. They say 44.25 millimeters. I don’t know much about them fancy measurements. My old clock at home, it’s big enough to see from across the room. That’s all that matters. This Speedmaster, it’s supposed to be some kinda special. They say it got some kinda “Spirate System”. Like a spiral, I reckon? What do that mean? My spiral notebook doesn’t keep time. This one’s special, though. They say it’s the first one with this thingy. Must be new, then.
This OMEGA, they say it’s a “racing” watch. Why they race their watches, I’ll never know. Maybe they got too much time on their hands. I bet you they pay good money for this watch. My old man, he had a pocket watch. It was simple, but it worked. This one, it’s got all them little dials and buttons. I bet it is hard to figure out. They say it’s got a black ring around the outside, with numbers on it. A “bezel”, they call it. Fancy words for simple things.

I reckon they do. This one, you gotta wind it yourself. My old clock, you gotta wind that too. Keeps it going.
This OMEGA Speedmaster, it’s got a lot of little things on it. Little details, they say. “Cues”, they call them. Like clues in a mystery book. These clues, they’re supposed to remind you of some old stuff they did. Technical things. I don’t know about all that. I just know it’s a watch. It tells time. That’s what it’s supposed to do. This one, it’s got a yellow scale on that black ring. They call it “grand feu” enamel. Sounds like a fancy dish. Must be expensive to make. This new watch of theirs, it got a special spring. They say it makes it real accurate. It means it tells the time just right. Ain’t that what all watches are supposed to do anyway?

They do that to keep it nice, I reckon. Keep the dust off. They say it’s good quality. That’s good. Things should be made to last. Not like the junk they sell now.
This whole “Spirate System” thing, they say it’s a big deal. Something new in the watch world. About precision, they say. Making sure the watch tells the time just right. Like I said, ain’t that what watches are for? They make a big fuss about it. This watch, they say it’s 50 millimeters from one end to the other, where the strap goes. That’s pretty big. It gotta fit right on your wrist. It don’t want to be sliding around. This OMEGA Speedmaster Super Racing sure is something. I still don’t know what that “Spirate” is.
